Seven staff members of the National Procurement Service (NPS) recently graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology with Diplomas in Public Procurement. The course was undertaken during the academic year 2010/11 and covered four modules which included law, supply chain management, strategic procurement and contract management.
In order to pursue its objectives in achieving greater efficiencies and value for money in procurement for the Irish public sector, the NPS considered it vital to develop staff in their roles. The course focussed on expanding awareness of industry norms and best practice tools and techniques which will enrich staff knowledge and experience, enabling them to operate effectively in the public procurement environment.
